Hello Pre-K 2 parents and families! During the last two
weeks since I have arrived at AISB, we have been learning about Friendship.
During this time the children have experienced fun learning activities
including making a Friendship Tree (now on display on the classroom door),
making new colors with paint by rubbing hands together with a friend’s hands,
and emphasizing cooperation, sharing, and recognizing emotions through play and
games. We continue to learn more
about our friends in the class through other activities such as putting up a
birthday train (calendar) and matching images of each child with his/her
printed name.
We have also been working on our daily routines with
songs to accompany different transitions in the day: our circle time, welcome,
clean up, and goodbye songs. The children love singing these songs! A new
routine we have started is Reading Buddies on Tuesday mornings. Our class
either visits or receives children from the Kindergarten class who sit and read
books to the PreK 2 children. This is an enjoyable time for all children and
helps our class make friends with the Kindergarteners.
We were also lucky to celebrate Moctar’s 3rd birthday last week
on February 2! A big thank you to Moctar and his family for sharing a delicious
birthday cake with us!
We
will continue to learn about Friendship through February before starting a unit
on Water and Sand in March just in time to cool down in the coming heat.
